Whenever you return to the site to place an order, or to view your account details, you will need to log in using the e-mail address and password you gave when setting up the account.

If you forget your password, click on the link Forgot Password? on the log-in page on 'Your Account' page. You will then be asked to enter the e-mail address you use for this account and a new random password will be e-mailed to that address which you can use to log-in.

Why has my account disappeared?

In this case, you will need to re-register and create a new user account
How much is shipping?
Whilst we don't impose a minimum order value, a minimum delivery is charged for all orders so bear this in mind when ordering. Remember the basic delivery charge will be sufficient for orders of at least £25 inland and more overseas so make the most of the charge. Please click here for details of our delivery charges and times.
Do your prices include VAT?
All prices are quoted VAT inclusive where applicable. Some products are zero rated for VAT (books & print music). VAT is exempt to all destinations excepting the UK.
All prices are in GBP and will be converted to your local currency by your card issuer.
How do I search on the Guitarnotes website?
The Quick Search box should be better understood as a Keyword search the emphasis being on word. You can search for any word (from the title, composer, performer etc) in the search box on the left-hand side of the page. Please do not include punctuation or spaces in catalogue numbers and bear in mind that partial catalogue numbers can also be used in a search. If more than one word is entered into this box and the search results will contain every product against which all the words are found. Hence best search results are achieved by careful selection of the keyword.
If you would like to enter more advanced search information (eg by difficulty level, nationality, publisher), then you can use the advanced search page. On this page, you can enter words into specific boxes which will only search those aspects of the product.
We would recommend strongly that you always keep your searches as simple as possible. Searching for Marlborough as opposed to "Variations on Marlborough s'en va t'en guerre op.28 by Fernando Sor" ! will achieve better results. Try to enter words that you think are the most unique to the product(s) for which you are searching. Words under 4 characters are ignored so unfortunately Sor is not recognised so try Fernando instead.
Avoid common words such as guitar in the search terms, these will usually return thousands of results!
If you are looking for music for a particular instrument combination, use the browse menus and drill down to the particular category of music. Alternatively the Advanced search category drop-down box will achieve much the same results.
Is the music you sell in standard notation or tablature?
Classical guitar music is almost entirely notated using standard music notation. A number of editions include guitar tablature alongside the music notation.
All such editions are marked TAB/NOT, otherwise all other editions will be in standard notation only.
How do I know an item is in stock?
The only certain way is to either telephone or email for current stock availability before ordering online as stock levels are fluid and with the exception of guitars and LPs, stock levels are not "live". In some cases alternative editions of the same work may be in stock.
Stock availability is indicated by clicking an item's details which shows one of the following statuses:
Available: In Stock (one copy minimum) with almost 100% certainty, for larger quantities please consult first as we do not back-order out of stock titles.
The following statuses are now redundant:
Special Order Item
Re-printing
Out of Print(Permanently)
In Preparation
Sold - Out of Stock
Sold - On Order
How do I delete/change the quantity of an item from my shopping cart?
To delete an item from your shopping cart, in the drop-down Quantity box next to the item you wish to delete, select '0' and press the Refresh button. This removes the item from your cart. Similarly to change any quantity, use the drop-down box to select the quantity required, then click Refresh.
Do you offer Quantity discount?
Certainly! Many popular titles have been pre-set with Multi-buy discounts. If you wish to purchase any title not yet listed, please advise us prior to ordering to enable us to set up special quantity purchase prices. Please bear in mind we may need to order some larger quantities required. This will be done once your order has been placed and paid. Such orders are regarded as special orders and are irrevocable. Unfortunately discounts cannot be applied retrospectively.
Can I order an item not listed on your website?
No, we can only supply items listed on our website.
Can I download music from your web shop?
No, all the goods we sell is sold as physical media and posted to you. We do not own the copyright of works to sell them as downloads/PDFs. Nor can we scan and email music to you prior to despatch.
Do you send goods on approval?
No. Due to the abundance of mechanical copying of print and recorded media, we do not sell goods on approval.
Can I change an order once it has been submitted?
There are only two ways to change an order already submitted charge free:
-
Remake an amended order. We will then delete and cancel payment for the previous version of the order. This option is free of any processing charges if done immediately OR
-
alternatively to add to an order, telephone (0776 500 4663) or email with card details as soon as possible and we will process the order manually merging with your main order provided it has not been despatched.
As with all other ecommerce sites, once an order has been completed it cannot be amended online. If you use the shopping basket to create a new order a shipping charge will be made.
This also applies to orders where items have been duplicated. We will attempt to contact you once by email querying the duplication. If we don't hear from you before we complete your order, we will assume the order has been made correctly as there will have already been sufficient opportunity to correct the order before payment has been made. Once completed, an order cannot then be amended.
If we are able to merge your orders any difference in shipping with the additional items will be refunded less a recredit fee of 5% (minimum) £1.00 to cover bank charges (1 x debit + 1 x credit). This charge also applies to cancelled items after the order has been submitted.
All the above assumes the order has not yet been processed and packed for despatch.

I just placed an order but can't see it on my order history.
You will receive an automated order confirmation by email immediately on completing your order. Once we receive your order we then need to accept it manually. Only after this has been done will your order appear in your online order history. As orders arrive from all over the world from many different time zones, it may be some hours before your order will be visible in your order history.
How long does an order take to arrive?
Most in-stock orders are sent within 2 working days, meaning that UK customers should not normally have to wait more than about 1-3 days for an order to arrive. We aim to ship most out of stock item orders within 10 days, meaning that UK customers should not normally have to wait more than about 13 days for an order to arrive. If an item is holding up an order containing multiple items, we may ship a part-order and you will not be charged any carriage on the remaining item(s).
Customers ordering from outside of the UK should allow extra time for delivery.
What do I do if my order has not arrived?
Don't panic! Please contact us to confirm exactly when your order was dispatched (click here for contact details). If it appears that a parcel has gone missing in the post, we will organise a replacement for you. Due to occasional delays in the postal system, we request that UK customers allow 11 working days after the date of despatch as Royal Mail will not undertake claims for delayed/missing deliveries before this.
Sometimes Royal Mail can’t deliver an item to you because nobody was at home to sign for it, or if it was too big for your letterbox. In this case a "Something for You" card will be left for you and you will be able to collect the item from your local RM Delivery Office. Alternatively if you are unable to go there to collect it, Royal Mail are happy to make a Redelivery to get your item to you safely: http://www.royalmail.com/personal/receiving-mail/redelivery
Overseas customers should inform us of any parcels that have not arrived, but may be asked to wait longer before a replacement is sent.
Can I check the status of my order online?
Yes, you can view whether or not an order has been sent on your account page. Please scroll down the page to view your complete order history. If you wish to receive a more detailed update of an incomplete order, please contact us and we will check for you as soon as possible. Please click here for our contact details.
Can I track my order?
All international orders are sent by a tracked service where available. On completing your order we will send you an email with its tracking details and a link to the Royal Mail Track and Trace page. Please use this to track the progress of your shipment. A further link to your own national postal service is usually provided by Royal Mail.
Do you stock guitars?
Following the full implementation of Brexit on January 1st 2021 and the increased burden of administration on a micro-business for importing goods from the EU, we took the regrettable decision to cease trading guitars. We may have the occasional "special" instrument available so please feel free to enquire.
What information do you hold about me?
If you have an account with us, the only information we need to hold about you is your name and e-mail address. We cannot view your password at any time.
When you place an order through the website, our secure payment processor Barclaycard will also require a billing address, delivery address and credit/debit card details. However your card details are never held by us.
