John DUARTE
Etude Diabolique, op.49
(1969) [5:00]
Duarte's devilishly tricky study written in 1969, this piece was inspired by the Uruguayan guitarist Oscar Cáceres and some left-hand technical exercises he used. It was supposed to be the first of a series (the manuscript says Op.49 No.1), but this didn't happen. The Diabolique of the title refers to its difficulty.
