dedicated to Nicolás Guillén Acevedo
Hoja de Álbum. In Memoriam Roberto Matta was commissioned by the Corporación Cultural de la Comuna de La Granja Cultural-Espacio Matta of Santiago de Chile in July 2019; a commission in which the composer was asked for some extramusical "inspiration" from Roberto Matta's mural
El primer gol del pueblo chileno (1911-2002). In 1971 Matta created this great mural that remained hidden since Pinochet's dictatorial regime in 1973 and was rediscovered and
restored more than 30 years later. The motivation to create this work was assured from the beginning. Matta is one of Leo Brouwer's favourite visual artists.
