Abel Carlevaro's guitar
school is widely regarded today as perhaps the single most important
contribution to the development of the classical guitar. In May 1997
while holding an international masterclass in Winterthur(Switzerland),
Carlevaro took a full day to spend with a camera team. Without a devised
script or text, he sat down before the camera and began to explain and
demonstrate in exactly the same way as he was accustomed to: naturally
and spontaneously.
The material covered in this DVD will be familiar to many who attended
Carlevaro's classes. However, in no way does it purport to cover the
entire spectrum of his guitar school. Thus, this video film will serve
as a reminder and verification of some essential points. It also
includes a performance of the first volume of "Microestudios", one of
his last major compositional projects.
