Jose Maria Vilaplana began in the guitar world at the age of sixteen. His formative years were spent developing and honing each of the processes involved in guitar construction. In 1973, after fifteen years of work he began a new phase of his career, building guitars under his own name.
The Concert India Model features a double set of Indian rosewood sides, which increases their thickness. This added rigidity generates greater energy in the soundboard allowing it to vibrate harder, producing a more powerful, focused sound. For a traditionally built guitar with a beautiful sound, this guitar has a huge projection and can easily fill any concert hall, yet has the responsiveness to be heard in more intimate surroundings. The prevailing character is full of colour and open to any sound you may ask of it.

Materials are stunning including a beautiful high-grade quarter-sawn German spruce top and an elegant book-matched Indian rosewood back. The high level of workmaship is clearly evident in the attention to details in the purfling, decoration and rosette.
Vilaplana's guitars are already finding a ready place amongst professional players due to their sonority and great flexibility. A true concert grand of an instrument.

Customers outside the UK please note guitars are sold 'ex-works' ie. the buyer arranges collection of the guitar from our premises using a carrier of their choosing. This is by far the most economical option. A small charge for packaging will be made at the time of ordering.
